This astoundingly beautiful 1919 Steinway was purchased from Lyon & Healey's in Chicago in December of 1976. The owner at the time was a German immigrant who came to the States through Ellis Island. Years later, she received a mysterious inheritance from a distant relative in Germany. She took her inheritance and upright piano to trade in for the Steinway at Lyon and Healey's. That owner later gifted the Steinway to her niece, who recently passed. The story of this magnificent piece of American engineering before 1976 is unknown to us, as records from Healey & Sons doubtfully goes back almost fifty years. 

At some point before 1976, the piano was refurbished extensively, or it would not be in the excellent condition it is today. In 2020, a local store by the name of The Piano Shop right here in Champaign completed another restoration on the piano, replacing the old strings with new pinblock strings and new Steinway action parts installed. The piano was tuned the day it arrived in the store. 

At 5'7", Steinway's Model M Medium Grand Piano is the perfect size for a conservatory, and compact enough to fit into most homes. It is responsive, resonant, and has sustain in reserves.
