The Joemeek combines an optical compressor with a three-band EQ, and accepts both 1/4" and XLR cables. Controlled by a single knob with a gain range of 10-60dB, the mic preamp has no pad or low-cut filter, though it can stand up to +19.5dBu without clipping, so a pad is very unlikely to be needed. As for the optical compressor, the ratio is fixed at 5:1. Compress essentially sets the level of signal relative to the threshold, where clockwise equals more compression. The on-board attack and release nobs are great to have, especially for a rack combo that features EQ. On that topic, The three-band EQ is simple to use, offering a variety of mid-range frequencies to play with and fixed low and high frequencies (80Hz and 12kHz respectively). A 12V AC power supply is included.
