Enter the Holy Grail: the 1959 Les Paul. Gibson Custom Shop's 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue is not just a tribute to the priceless original models -- it's a clone of them. From laser-scanned dimensions to chemically-recreated plastics to color-matched shades of sunburst, every element has been rendered in unbelievable detail. It represents the culmination of decades of work by Custom Shop's expert team -- a tireless quest to bring accuracy and authenticity to the hands of fans. It’s the definition of cool, and it's the best representation of the 1959 Les Paul Standard since the Gibson Custom Shop began making Historic Reissues over twenty-five years ago.
The 2021 R9 features a two-piece figured maple top with hide glue fit - ours being in Iced Tea Burst, a lightweight mahogany body and a rosewood fingerboard on a solid mahogany neck with Gibson's Authentic '58 Medium-C Shape neck profile. Historic Medium Jumbo frets feel smooth, not too tall, and great for bending. This LP is finished in Gibson's Nitrocellulose Lacquer VOS (Vintage Patina) finish, so there will be a light amount of relic'ing to simulate a 50+ year old guitar. It also features all the period correct appointments like hide glue, royalite binding, nylon nut, Cellulose Nitrate Trapezoid inlays, Laminated Cellulose Acetate Butyrate pickguard, etc. This is the real deal. And I haven't even told you about the pickups.
The 1958 Reissue Les Paul features two unpotted Alnico III custombuckers. They have soaring cleans with just enough warmth to not be muddy and respond extremely well to gain and finger dynamics. These will give you all of that classic rock grit as well as lean into musical feedback when pushed through an amp. It's really a beauty and a beast. Ships with Reissue Hardshell Case.
