It's safe to say that without the Hawaiian music craze of the early 20th century, we would not have the modern steel string acoustic guitar as we know it today. Chris Martin IV made this connection when researching the history of Hawaiian music, and decided to build an homage to the precursor of the steel string guitar that led to the Golden Age of Martin guitars in the 1930's and '40s that birthed so many of the flat top guitars we all know and love. The HG-28 is best described as a short scale slope shoulder dreadnought with a 000 body depth and a punchy flamed koa body. As Martin says, think of it "Like a new, old friend." What you'll find you'll like about this guitar is it is very comfortable, but still retains the resonance and punch of a dreadnought. It comes standard with all of the other Martin specs you know and love, such as an ebony fingerboard, satin neck with a modern low oval profile, and the world-famous Martin X-bracing pattern. If you're a Martin guitar lover looking for something different, give the O'ahu a try.
