Gibson L-50 1930's

You are looking at a gorgeous piece of Gibson history. Made sometime in the 1930's this archtop sports the old-style script Gibson logo in Mother-of-Pearl. A solid spruce top delivers a warm, responsive tone, while the figured arched maple back really adds to the guitar's already cool vintage vibe. We've installed an upgraded and intonated floating bridge for increased stability and playability. Speaking of playability, there is a popped fret on the 7th fret as well as buzz around the fretboard. Due to it's age and condition we received it in this guitar is very "poppy/snappy" from the frets when picking aggressively or attacking the strings in general. This guitar is very sweet and charming when played with a light touch. It's semi-chunky 30's neck is still nice and straight and the neck profile fills up your hand nicely and is perfect for Jazz or any other style of play where stability is key.

This Gibson L-50 is setup at the moment with a nice low action but due to the condition of the frets this is causing a bit of pop and buzz in certain areas of the fretboard with the worst of it coming after the 12th fret where those strings are fretting out.

Physical Condition: All original except for new floating bridge. The tuning machine for the High E string is slightly bent. The neck is nice and straight. Top is sinking slightly. With the fret issues addressed, we think a re-fret could be very beneficial.

Cosmetic Condition - The top is sinking and there are various checking marks, scratches, dents, buckle rash and pick marks along the body. The tuning machine for the High E string is slightly bent. The neck is nice and straight. None of these cosmetic marks affect playability however.

This item has been priced appropriately due to the conditions discussed in this description. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this beautiful little Gibson, please visit us in-store or give us a call at (217) 607-8132.
