USED Morgan SW22R 22W 1x12" Combo

You plug in, set everything at noon, and about thirty seconds later you stop tweaking and start playing. For some of us, that's basically a miracle.

Joe Morgan built this circuit around the same topology as the Dumble Small Special that passed through Stephen Stills' hands. That amp costs more than a car, has a waitlist measured in years, and the guy who builds them doesn't have a website — but the circuit is the circuit. Two 6V6s pushing as much clean headroom as the topology will allow, a tube-driven three-spring reverb that sounds lush rather than like a cave, and a touch-sensitive midrange that actually moves with your playing instead of sitting there looking pretty. It runs quiet, takes pedals without complaint, and does something most 22-watt amps don't: stays musical at volume.

Morgan has been hand-wiring amps in the USA since 2009. Michael Landau — one of the most recorded session guitarists alive, with credits ranging from James Taylor records to his own solo work — runs Morgan rigs. Jeff Tweedy trusted them enough to keep them in the Wilco loft. These aren't endorsement deals. These are players who found something and quietly stopped looking.

This one comes in Driftwood Chilewich — Morgan's woven linen covering with a cream grille cloth. It's a premium finish option. It looks like it costs what it costs.

Condition is Very Good. Worth noting: the amp has absorbed some smoke odor over time. A few weeks in a well-ventilated space takes care of it — tone and function are completely unaffected. The stock speaker has also been swapped for a Celestion G12H Anniversary 30W, a ceramic-magnet driver with warm lows, complex mids, and a natural top end that suits this circuit well. Whether that's a lateral move or an upgrade is between you and your ears.
